Europe's Last Great Wilderness
Sutherland is one of the most sparsely populated and wild landscapes in Europe — a vast expanse of bog, mountain, and sea loch largely unchanged since the last Ice Age. Its dramatic emptiness is its greatest asset for production and its greatest challenge for logistics.
The Flow Country was designated as Scotland's first UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2024. The Space Hub at Sutherland (Tongue) is under development as the UK's first vertical launch site, bringing significant economic opportunity to one of Europe's most remote communities.
